Chapter 01
The right size for the job
A roof tear-off, a house clean-out and a new-construction job don't fill a container the same way. Shingles are heavy and pack down fast, so a lot of roofing jobs only need a 20-yard can even though the pile on the tarp looks bigger than that before it's loaded. A whole-house clean-out or a room-by-room remodel tends to run bulkier and lighter for its weight, which is where the 30-yard earns its keep. New construction, additions and bigger commercial cleanups, with framing scrap, drywall cutoffs and packaging piled on top of everything else, usually call for the 40.

Getting it where it needs to sit
A roll-off comes off the truck on a hook-lift, winched back onto the ground on the rails welded to the bottom of the can. That means the truck needs a straight run in, enough overhead clearance for the bed to tip, and ground flat enough that the container doesn't rock on one corner once it's set down. Driveways work well because they're already graded, but Bosco sets containers on grass, gravel and bare work pads just as often, depending on what the site has to offer.
Say where you want it before the truck ever rolls out: tight against the garage, off to one side of the driveway, or set back from the road if the street carries traffic. Getting the spot right on the first drop means nobody's shifting a full container later in the job.
Chapter 03
Loading it level, then calling for the pickup
Load the heavy material first and low, then build up and fill the corners before the middle gets too tall. A can loaded level hauls safer and empties cleaner on the other end than one with everything piled in the center. Keep the load inside the top rail rather than stacked over it, and keep anything that shouldn't ride along, tires, batteries, paint cans, out of the pile. Ask the office if you're not sure whether something belongs in the can.
Once it's full, call ahead instead of waiting until the container's overflowing onto the ground around it. Bosco runs pickup and delivery off the same trucks that drop the cans, so the same crew that set the container handles the swap or the final haul-off.
